Of those injuries (1 million), nearly half occur when an athlete sustains ligament damage due to contact with another player or part of the playing surface. The danger also arises when players fall into one another’s path while running or jumping

There are some sports that are relatively safer than others. For example, basketball is a relatively safer sport to play, as it doesn’t require you to be in contact with other players. In this sport, if you fall down or do something wrong, there’s a reasonable chance that you won’t get injured. 

 

Additionally, people don’t tend to use their arms and elbows as they do in football and baseball because of the nature of the game. When play these games, players must have less chance of getting hurt due to the fact that they’re not usual touch other players on the field.
