Lacking stress management, an aspiring young candidate would be unable to provide his best attempt, therefore eliminating his prospects of passing the renowned UPSC Civil Service Exam. The following are amongst the rapid ways for a candidate that he might follow to deal with stress.

Tips to Beat UPSC Exam Stress

1. Do Some Physical Activity

Preparing for IAS examinations may be time-consuming, with stringent deadlines and study schedules that might last for hours. However, most candidates fail to allocate time for physical activity when organizing their Daily IAS schedule. Physical activity stimulates the body and the brain, allowing IAS candidates to study more quickly and effectively.

However, don’t overwork yourself to the point that you’re exhausted during study time. In the early morning hours, indulge in mild workouts or a quick walk/jog for a few minutes, accompanied by practicing yoga or meditation.

2. Eat Healthy Food at the Right Time

Consume nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts. It would be best if you stayed away from junk food. Junk food has also been linked to depression. When you’re hungry, you must make a deliberate effort to eat nutritious foods.

Low-quality nutrition has also been linked to depression. Whenever you are hungry, you should make every attempt to eat well-nutritious meals. If the brain performs at ideal levels, stress levels will be lowered; however, the brain will only operate at optimal capacity if the body is working at optimum levels. As a result, consider eating nutritious foods at the appropriate times.

3. Take Small Breaks

Regular breaks seem to be a vital element of the IAS exam preparation. Don’t force yourself to read for the next hour whenever you feel you can not take any further study, and it’d be a complete waste of energy and effort.

The constant bombardment of information, thoughts, and data would only burn your brain down quicker. To escape doing things you don’t want to do, schedule some time for activities you like. It might be as easy as listening to music or walking with a friend in a neighboring area. It is preferable to take a little rest and sit when your mind is fatigued and cannot process any more information. Taking small intervals between your preparations will help you be more efficient in dealing with stress.

4. Follow a Hobby, DAILY!

Having a pastime can help you relax. The UPSC curriculum is widely renowned for taking too long to complete, but you must study it all with a fresh slate. As a result, do something that brings you joy. Enjoy music, read a good book, or play some sport. The goal here is to personally attach to a hobby to renew the mind at the moment. Whatsoever the case is, hobbies must be filled out in the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the Mains Exam. There’s no problem in following your favorite activity while studying.

5. Set Small and Realistic Goals

Preparing a schedule to cover the extensive CSE curriculum is merely the first step. Following that, setting modest, attainable objectives within that time frame (such as reading the Hindu newspaper in 45 minutes) and preparing for them daily is essential. This is significant because it gives us a sense of accomplishment after every day. Feeling successful has a wonderful effect on our many psychological states. Goal achievement daily and remembering it before sleeping for the night might help you refresh your energies and go closer to your aspirations. This is among of the most important Tips to Beat UPSC Exam Stress.

6. Believe in Yourself

This is a very well reality that when you have faith in yourself, you have already won halfway through the struggle. Constantly remind yourselves why you’ve decided to go on this journey. When you’re down and out, think joyful and optimistic ideas like “I will get through this.” These ideas will energise you and also get you moving. Every minute you are convinced of the purpose and your objective appears next to your eyes, you will realise that most of your sacrifices have not been in vain. You’ll realise you’re on the correct track at that point!

7. Don’t Pressurise Yourself for Results

Many psychologists believe that if students have a negative attitude about the exam and focus on its results, they may never reach their final goal. So, instead of stressing about the IAS examination, try to concentrate on the present and enjoy the time spent studying. As M.S. Dhoni says, “Don’t think about the results. It’s the result that puts pressure. Rather, trust the process, and you’ll get results.”

So, pay attention to the process and all of the minor details, and you will finally achieve your goal. You frequently complain, thinking you should have obtained more as a consequence, but in reality, you got exactly what you prepared for. You will achieve the intended result if you plan properly, execute effectively, and are honest with yourself regularly.

8. Sleep Properly

And lastly, it goes without saying to Have A Proper Sleep of 6-7 Hours Daily! Many aspirants think that they will survive on 4-5 hours of sleep and study more. Of course, you can survive, but your studies’ quality will begin deteriorating. You won’t realise this earlier, but you will start losing your concentration power and focus after some time.

However, proper sleep will ensure that your mind and body remain fresh and energised to help you prepare well for the next day.

So, to conclude, follow these 8 tips to beat UPSC exam stress. Moreover, if you plan to join the best IAS coaching to help you study efficiently, The Thought Tree can help you out. They provide mentorship to their students along with other study material.
